Wingless Griffin: page 01

The full title is, "The Sad Adventure of a Wingless Griffin", and this was the personal project I had worked on as my submission to this year's Shoujo Phonebook. As you can tell from the title, it follows the short tale of a wingless griffin, as he overcomes this unexplained barrier in his mission to fly.

I'm not a sequential art major at SCAD, so any of my dabbles in comic making are mostly from my own experiments. Although, I think I did learn a lot from my storyboard class that helped me improve this comic from my "Duck Breeder" comic, last year. There were two main weakness from that comic that I wanted to work on with this one, toning and clarity of story. (There was also the third weakness of poor backgrounds but... you can see there was little improvement in that department.)

Originally, I had a much grander and complicated story in mind to illustrate, but unfortunately due to time and the work of actually running Shoujo Phonebook, I did not finish the tale of a duck and a tiger in Venice. But alas, maybe something can be said about being able to fit a story in five pages? Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
